STUDIO LLORENC
This lovely studio for two has been created from the conversion of the upper floor and attic of a 200 year old, village house in San Llorenç des Cardassar The house lies in a peaceful side street and is entered via an ancient oak door. A flight of stairs to the left takes you up to another antique, wooden door, which is the entrance to the Studio Llorenc. On entering you find yourself in a high, light flooded room with a gallery. In front of the floor length windows on the right, stands a distinctive, wooden table made from the original, wooden beams of the house and around which stand six comfortable cane chairs. The spacious kitchen area behind has a dishwasher, a cooker with a ceramic cooking surface and a microwave oven. The combined living and eating area has a wood burning stove around which a cosy sitting area has been created. From here you can also watch TV on the large flat screen TV that has been so well incorporated it is hardly noticeable. A small corridor leads to an attractive bathroom with a generous shower area and a washing machine. The bedroom is reached via the gallery and has a 180×200cm double bed. A completely private roof terrace, with sun from late morning onwards, leads off the bedroom. From here there are lovely views across the town and the surrounding countryside.
Studio San Llorenç was completed in the autumn of 2010. It is obvious that great love and care, as well as enjoyment have been taken in its design, decoration and furnishing. Both typical and unusual Majorcan elements have been incorporated. The carefully placed windows highlight the natural colours of white, cream and a warm brown, with which the studio is decorated. There is under floor heating, air conditioning and an internet connection, making the studio a luxurious and very special holiday location.
The sleepy village of San Llorenç des Cardassar is typically Majorcan and is not far from both Manacor and Artà. There is no mass tourism here, but you will have no difficulty in finding everything you need for your day to day living including banks, a pharmacy and a number of different restaurants. There is a weekly market every Thursday and the coast is only a 15 minute drive away, where you can enjoy the wide sandy beaches of Sa Coma or Cala Millor. Manacor, which is the second largest town on Majorca, can be reached in about 10 minutes. There is a train that leaves from here that will take you into the centre of Palma. Manacor itself has a shopping precinct with good shopping facilities as well as a number of very nice cafés and restaurants. The medieval town of Artà is also only a little more than 10 minutes away and has a number of interesting places to visit, such as the famous San Salvador church and some impressive limestone caves. The town has an active theatre that not only puts on plays but also holds concerts and shows films. The theatre has its own very pleasant café and there are many more inviting cafés, restaurants, art galleries and shops to be found around the pedestrian shopping area and in the side streets that run off it. Here local artisan products abound and you will never be at a loss to find something nice to take back home, either as a memento for yourself, or as a gift for someone else.
