FINCA SES FIGUERES

Perched on the top of a hill just outside Manacor, this Majorcan holiday home for four people sits in its own extensive grounds of: almond, olive and fig trees, the latter giving the house its name. In this haven of peace there are stunning views over the north eastern landscapes of the island. On clear days it is possible to see the sea on the horizon. Casa Antonio lies in the same grounds as Casa Emilia. The buildings are roughly 150 metres apart.

The houses are light and airy and a number of glass doors have been incorporated so that the imposing panorama can be enjoyed from each room. For the modern interior design wood has been used as one of the main building materials. Every house has one bedroom which contains in Casa Antonio a French double bed and in Casa Emila two single beds.

There is a living cum dining area with an open kitchen and a dining area for four. A cosy sofa invites you to snuggle up and for the cooler days in spring or autumn there is a fireplace. The television provides Spanish television. The kitchen is fitted out with: crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils for four people, a ceramic cooking surface with two hot-plates, a fridge with a deep-freeze compartment, a coffee maker and a water boiler. The bathroom has a shower and there is a washing machine in the store-room. There is also a small barbecue.

On the extensive terrace there is a lovely old cistern and two sun beds and a sunshade invite you to relax and be lazy. Bird song and sheep bells, the buzz of cicadas and in the distance the occasional dog barking are the only things to disturb your peace.

It is roughly five kilometres to Manacor which has all kinds of excellent shopping facilities and is, after Palma, the second largest town on the island. The idyllic surroundings offer many places to visit and it is a very good spot for hiking. The historical towns of Artà and Capdapera are not far and the sea is just 15 minutes drive away.
