FINCA CA`N VENTURO
This striking Finca C´an Venturo lies in 25,000 sq. metres of grounds, not far away from the medieval town of Artà and has three double bedrooms that sleep six people comfortably. On entering the finca you find yourself in a spacious living cum dining area with a fireplace and a generously designed and well appointed kitchenette. Here you will find an oven with a ceramic cooking surface, a fridge/freezer combination and a dishwasher. From the kitchen area there is access to the lovely garden and pool, as well as to a huge terrace that runs around the whole of the house. The views from here onto the medieval castle ruins at Capdepera and the hills of the Sierra de LLevant are stunning and part of the original charm of the finca. From the living area, to the left, you enter the first bedroom with a French sized bed and a large bathroom with a bathtub/shower, a WC and a wash basin. Because the house is built into a slope the two other bedrooms are on a lower floor. Both are airy and friendly and share a second, large bathroom with a double wash basin, a bidet, a bathtub and a shower. These bedrooms lead out onto yet another terrace. The house is full of light, generously designed and very tastefully furnished and decorated. A number of the linen curtains with crochet work typical to the island were made by the owner herself. From all the bedrooms there is a breathtaking view of the surrounding countryside.
The pool (4,5 x 8 ) with its attractive sun terrace has been elevated slightly from the rest of the garden, which itself is very individual in character. There is a stand of old Holm oaks and gnarled almond trees and a number of ancient steps that have been built over hundreds of years to give access to the land.
The house has a laundry room with a washing machine, a carport, a garage and ample garden furniture. The house is centrally heated and has satellite TV, making the house attractive for a holiday even in the cooler months of the year.
Nearby Artà, with its famous church of San Salvador, is a very attractive town. It has a large market place where a huge weekly market is held every Tuesday morning and on the first Sunday of every month there is a flea market. In August there is a major fiesta in honour of the town’s patron saint. The active town theatre also shows films and holds concerts and the little café is very nice place to have a coffee. The town itself has good daily shopping facilities and in and around the pedestrian shopping precinct there are numerous restaurants, cafés, art galleries, and some lovely shops selling local, artisan products, that will make it very difficult to come away empty handed.
A trip of special attraction in the near vicinity is the Eremita de Betlem. The hermitage was founded in 1805 and is 280 metres above sea level in the Artà massif. The building materials were brought by sea, from Soller and then transported up the mountains on the backs of donkeys. The chapel is open to visitors and on the 1st May every year there is a pilgrimage. The visit is worthwhile if only for the dramatic vistas to be had on the drive up to the hermitage along the serpentine mountain road
