CASA ES PINARO

Four people can be comfortably accommodated in the enchanting finca Casa Es Pinaro that lies a stone s throw away from Artà on the east coast of Majorca.

Going through a gateway you enter the completely private grounds of the finca. The garden is something of a specialty with a stand of beautiful, old olive, pine and carob trees growing among mighty but picturesque rocks. The house itself is a typical, Majorcan, natural stone farm house that has been lovingly restored and renovated by its owners. The house is entered via a set of stone steps from where you go into the living/dining area with an adjoining open kitchen. Here you will find all the necessary equipment such as: cooker, oven, refrigerator, dishwasher and microwave. A large dining table to seat six stands in front of a beautiful, antique sideboard. Rounding off the living area are comfortable sofas, a fireplace and a television (satellite dish). The bedrooms, each with their own built in wardrobes, lead off from here. There is a 150cm wide French bed in one bedroom and the other contains two single beds that can be put together to make a double bed if wished. One of the bedrooms has a bathroom with shower. The other has access to the terrace. Between both bedrooms lies a further bathroom with shower. At the back of the house there is a laundry room with a washing machine and a tumble dryer. The finca is centrally heated and has double-glazed windows making it a comfortable place to stay both winter and summer.

The spacious terrace is a perfect place for a prolonged breakfast or just being lazy. However the highlight is the roof terrace with its 360 degree, panoramic views of Artà with its medieval castle and the rolling hills of the Sierra de Llevant.

The pool area has a sun terrace for lounging after a swim and there is a large grill for barbeque evenings. The grounds are completely fenced in making the house an ideal place for a holiday with children.

It is only a kilometer to the centre of the lovely, old town of Artà with not only the castle but also the famous church of San Salvador. On Tuesdays a large weekly market is held in the market square and every second Sunday of the month there is a flea market. In August fiestas are held for the town s patron saint, a tradition typical to the island. The town is culturally very active and the town s theatre holds concerts and plays and also shows films. It is also very pleasant to just enjoy a cup of coffee in the attractive theatre café. The local harbour town Cala Ratjada is worth a visit and there are the remains of another medieval castle in Capdapera. The local beaches are about 15 minutes drive away. A wide natural beach that is not full even at the height of the season, stretches between Son Sierra de Marina and Colonià de Sant Pere and the bay of Cala Torta is worth a visit at least once if only for the  wonderful views to be had on the drive down.

Artà has good shopping facilities for the daily necessities and there are numerous restaurants to be enjoyed. Further to this there are a number of galleries and many charming shops where you can be tempted by everything from art and fashion to local delicacies such as salt and olive oil.
